A home away from home for a rescue.
Hello, my name is Rembrandt and I was an endangered puppy who came here from another shelter from Kentucky because they closed and I had no where to go. My mom and siblings came with me. I was just two days old. I would like to show you where I was sent for safety and finally re-homed when I had grown independent and could go on my own journey with a dedicated family willing to provide me with a home for life.
I am now an important happy family member ( I was adopted by a great family ) and will be ever faithful to my human pets. He is still in his adoptive family and is 8 yrs old this April.
We are in a small rural community in the country nestled in remote north eastern Ohio. We have a wonderful large yard that is all our own. Its fenced in and allows us freedom to run, play and dig for treats that our caregivers lovingly bury as a fun activity to keep our noses active and out of mischief. We can go into the fenced in driveway so that we can great visitors, when you come and offer one of us a home, you get to meet many of us right away with our special greetings. Its a wonderful new beginning for many of us who lacked social skills. Its a great buddy system too for some of us who fear people, they see thru us that people here are only kind.

Outside kennels
We have outside kennels (they are shaded with sun screen during summer) where everyone can be safe when we do not have supervision or just getting use to the others before being main streamed and allowed to run with the doggy community as we all wait for the right home. We also have inside sleeping crates that we refer to as condos because we are told that we are dogs with dignity no dog is caged. We sleep in our room until we have trust to be good at night in our temporary home. Below is our room which also doubles as a place we are kept while healing from our spay / neuters so its a nice quiet place to rest and heal as we listen to a soft playing radio while we heal and rest, sometimes we can watch animal planet too on our TV. Our blankets are washed every day keeping us comfortable. The kitchen is where we get lots of goodies that are made extra for our enjoyment, although we are not suppose to lay around the table at dinner time, we do and sometimes the littlest volunteers will give us extra nibbles, its rather fun. I included the living room and everything goes / family room where we can lay on the couch and hang out during the day and cuddle in the evening as all families would do with their companions after a long day. Its great training for us too.
As we are adopted our playmates change, many here in the photos have been adopted and new ones have taken our place. Some of us never knew what a home was because we where kept caged to breed in back yard puppy mills, lived as strays or chained away from a family and home, but here we start learning what it is to be free of neglect and abuse, and not to chase a kitty or bite because we know no better and are afraid. Here we are loved, petted, get medical care, learn skills to be wonderful companions, begin training, groomed and more. Basically we learn what a home is with people who really care about each and every one of us. When we are adopted our families will fine tune us to match our new families and home, but we have a good idea of basics.
We even have a wonderful grooming crew to help keep us adorable and nails clipped!
